In this tutorial, you will learn how to capture custom variables from the query string, address bar, or registration form in AEvent. By capturing these variables, you can track specific parameters, such as UTM parameters or hop IDs, and use them in your autoresponder or other integrations. This feature enables better tracking and personalized communication with your event attendees.

Step-By-Step Tutorial:

Step 1: Accessing Custom Form Fields

  • Access your timeline settings and go to "Registrations."

Step 2: Adding Custom Form Fields

  • Click "Add Registration Field" and specify the desired field name (e.g., UTM) choose the "Query" option then click "Add."

Step 3: Capturing Query String or Address Bar Values

After creating the custom form field, AEvent will save the corresponding variable (e.g., UTM) and allow you to pass it as a custom field to your autoresponder or other integrations.

Step 4: Adding Additional Custom Fields (Example: Age)

  • To capture other custom information during registration, select "Add Custom Form Field", specify the desired field name (e.g. Age) and click "Add" (you have to update your registration page with the new custom field).

Step 5: Passing Captured Values to Your Autoresponder

  • Go to the "Integration" section within the timeline and open your autoresponder (e.g., AWeber) settings.

  • Create a Single Field for the captured value (e.g., Age).

  • From the dropdown menu, choose "Custom Field" and select the appropriate field name (e.g., Age).

Step 6: Finalizing Integration

  • Confirm that both the query string parameter and custom field values are being passed on to AEvent from the registration page.

  • AEvent will then pass these values to your autoresponder, allowing you to utilize them for personalized communication or other purposes.

Congratulations! You have successfully learned to capture custom fields and values from the query string, address bar, or registration form in AEvent. By implementing this feature, you can track specific parameters and gather valuable attendee data. Update your registration form and integrate it with your autoresponder service to fully leverage the captured information.

Enjoy personalizing your event communication and enhancing your event-tracking capabilities!
