Telnyx is a powerful SMS and MMS provider, but its dashboard is built for developers. AEvent removes that complexity with a native Telnyx integration.
Your registrant can be sent a message not only at the moment of registration, but anywhere throughout your campaign. Target the right audience and send them the right message at the right time.
With Telnyx's SMS and MMS (picture message) capabilities paired with AEvent's timeline, your messaging is fully unlocked. | Timeline Actions:
New requirement: A2P 10DLC registration is required to send to US and Canada numbers. |
How to find your Telnyx API Key
To connect Telnyx to AEvent, you only need one value: your API Key.
Log into your Telnyx Mission Control Portal.
In the left menu, go to Account Settings, then Keys & Credentials, then the API Keys tab.
Click Create API Key (or copy an existing one), then copy the key value. You will paste this into AEvent in the next section.

For the latest steps from Telnyx, see their guide on API Keys and how to use them.
Before you can send to US or Canada phone numbers, your Telnyx numbers must be A2P 10DLC registered.
US and Canada carriers block all unregistered 10DLC traffic. If your numbers are not registered, your messages will silently fail to deliver even though everything looks correct in AEvent. Complete this in your Telnyx portal before going live, in this order:
Register your Brand — your business details must match your IRS records (legal name and EIN).
Create a Campaign — describe your use case and enable Opt-in, Opt-out, and HELP keyword handling.
Assign your phone numbers to the campaign. Approval can take from a few minutes up to several business days to fully propagate across carriers.
Telnyx walks through each step here: A2P 10DLC on Telnyx. Until your campaign is approved and numbers are assigned, treat US/CA sending as not yet ready.
Adding your Telnyx Account to AEvent
In AEvent, navigate to Integrations, then click Add Integration.
Search for Telnyx and select it from the list.
Telnyx will expand to show its available actions, Send SMS and Send MMS. Click Add Integration inside the expanded panel.
Name your integration as you see fit, then click Connect.
A window will open asking for your API Key. Paste the API Key you copied from your Telnyx portal and submit.
Once your Telnyx account is added successfully, it will show its Connected state and you will be able to click Test. A successful connection returns a positive test result.
Activating your Telnyx Integration within a Campaign
After adding Telnyx, you must activate it inside the campaign you want to use it in. Open your campaign, select the Integrations tab, and toggle your Telnyx integration to Active.
As long as you have activated the integration, you are ready to use it in your timeline actions.
To send a message the moment someone registers, click the cogwheel icon, choose Send on Registration, pick SMS or MMS, write your message, and select the sending phone number.
(Tip: if you recently purchased a new phone number or set up a new messaging profile in Telnyx, click Refresh on the integration to pull in that new information.)
Creating a Timeline Action to Send a Telnyx SMS
In the timeline builder, create an action and choose the date and time you want it to fire. Select the audience you are targeting, then select your Telnyx integration and Send SMS. Use the Personalization menu and the Emoji menu to customize the message while keeping it dynamic, then choose the phone number to send from. When your message is ready, click Create.
Your Telnyx Send SMS action now appears on your timeline and will fire at the time you set for every registrant in the audience you chose.
Creating a Timeline Action to Send a Telnyx MMS
In the timeline builder, create an action and choose the date and time you want it to fire. Select your audience, then select your Telnyx integration and Send MMS. Choose the image you want to send (upload images to the Media area first), then customize the message text with the Personalization and Emoji menus. When ready, click Create.
Your Telnyx Send MMS action now appears on your timeline. Registrants in your chosen audience will receive your image along with the message text at the time you set.
How to reconnect your Telnyx Integration
If you run into issues with your Telnyx integration, your API Key may have been reset or rotated, or your Telnyx account balance may be negative. Navigate to Integrations, find Telnyx, and click Test. If the test is not successful, the first step we recommend is reconnecting.
Click Re-Connect on the Telnyx card.
Re-enter your API Key from your Telnyx portal and save.
Click Test again to confirm the connection.
If your test still fails, check your Telnyx account balance to ensure it is positive and has a valid payment method attached.
How to remove your Telnyx Integration from AEvent
To remove your Telnyx integration, navigate to Integrations, locate your Telnyx integration, and click the trashcan icon. You will be prompted to confirm.
Removing this integration will immediately affect its use with any campaigns it is active in.
If you are experiencing issues but do not want to remove it, try Re-Connecting first (above). You can always re-add the integration later.
Troubleshooting
Test connection fails: Double-check that your API Key was pasted correctly with no extra spaces, that your Telnyx balance is positive, and that at least one phone number is assigned to a messaging profile.
Messages are not delivering to US or Canada numbers: This is almost always incomplete A2P 10DLC registration. Confirm your Brand and Campaign are approved and your numbers are assigned to the campaign in your Telnyx portal.
No phone numbers appear in the dropdown: Purchase a number in Telnyx and assign it to a messaging profile, then click Refresh on the integration in AEvent.
Integration not appearing in a campaign: Confirm Telnyx is toggled Active in that campaign's Integrations tab and shows Connected.
Sending internationally: Some destinations require additional sender registration on the Telnyx side. If a specific country is rejected, check your Telnyx messaging settings for that region.
