Want to use SlickText with AEvent ?

SlickText is a GREAT service, but they have a Major Downfall. There is no user-friendly Interface. AEvent removes the headache of integrating with SlickText utilizing our native integration.

Your lead can be sent a msg not only at the time of registration but anywhere throughout your timeline, you can target the right audience, sending them the right msg.

With both SlickText SMS and MMS (Picture Message) Capabilities, along with AEvent, your Messaging needs are finally unlocked!

Timeline Actions:

Finding Your SlickText API

Before you are able to integrate SlickText with AEvent, you will need to have the API Keys, a Public Key, and a Private Key.

  • Click your account name in the top left.

  • Select My Integrations from the dropdown.

  • On the next page, select API from the sidebar.

  • Copy these keys and keep them safe, you will need them both to integrate SlickText to AEvent.

Adding your SlickText Account to AEvent

In order to add your SlickText Integration, you will need to first navigate to Integrations within AEvent.

  • Click Add Integration and then search / select SlickText.

  • Then, name your integration as you see fit and click 'Add.'

  • Paste in the SlickText Public and Private API keys you have saved.

    • (You can also find them in your account, and we show you that in the step above ⬆️).

  • Once your SlickText account has been successfully added, you will be see it's Connected state, and you are able to click on 'Test'.

  • A successful connection will yield a positive test result.

Congratulations, your SlickText account is now successfully connected to AEvent!

Activating your SlickText Integration within a Timeline and setting up an on-registration SMS

In order to use your SlickText Integration within AEvent, once adding it, you need to activate it within the timeline you are working with.

  • To do this, open the timeline you are working on.

  • Then select Integrations and set your Twilio Integration as Active

    • If you want to set an on-registration SMS or MMS, click on the Cog wheel.


  • As long as you have Activated the integration, you are good to use it for your Timeline Actions.

    • If you wish to only send SlickText through a timeline action and not when someone registers for your event, you can skip the rest of this step.


If you clicked on the Cogwheel:

  • Then select 'Send on Registration', select the type of message you would like to send (SMS or MMS), then define your message.

    • You can use both the personalization menu and emoji menu to customize it.

  • Then you can select the Textwords you are using.

Then, click on the X to close the pop-over.

Creating a Timeline Action to Send a SlickText MMS

To trigger SlickText, we need to set up Timeline Actions within the timeline you want to use for this event.

  • Start by creating an action

  • Selecting the Date and Time that you wish the action to occur

  • Select the Audience you are targeting

  • Select your SlickText integration

  • Select Send MMS

  • Choose the Media type and file you want to send

  • Define your message

    • You can use both the Personalization menu & Emoji menu to customize it

  • Once you've written the MMS message you want to send, just click on Create.

  • This is what it will look like in your timeline.

Your SlickText Send MMS Action has now been created, and you can view it on your timeline. Per the example above, 5 minutes prior to the event starting, an action will occur that will send an MMS to all registrants registered for the scheduled event.

Creating a Timeline Action to Send a SlickText SMS

To trigger SlickText, we need to set up Timeline Actions within the timeline you want to use for this event.

  • Start by creating an action

  • Selecting the Date and Time that you wish the action to occur

  • Select the Audience you are targeting

  • Select your SlickText integration

  • Select Send SMS

  • Define your message

    • You can use both the Personalization menu & Emoji menu to customize it

  • Once you've written the SMS message you want to send, just click on Create.

  • This is what it will look like in your timeline.

Your SlickText Send SMS Action has now been created, and you can view it on your timeline. Per the example above, 5 minutes After the event starts, an action will occur that will send an SMS to all registrants registered for the scheduled event.

Creating a Timeline Action to Remove Contact with SlickText

Once you are done with this event and your messaging and you want to remove the registrant, you need to create a Timeline Action to Remove Contact.

  • Create a New Action

  • Set your Time for some time after your event is over and your Actions are done being sent

  • Select your Audience

  • Select SlickText

  • Select Remove Contact

  • Click Create

Now, when this Audience Type, i.g. Registrants, comes to this time in your timeline, they will be removed from your contacts. This will work for any Audience you select.

How to reconnect your SlickText Integration

If you are encountering issues with your SlickText integration, it is possible that the API key issued from SlickText has been reset or changed, OR your account is in a negative state.

  • If you click 'Test' and it is NOT successful.

  • The first step we recommend is Re-Connecting your integration.

  • By clicking Re-Connect, you will be prompted to re-enter your Public API Key and your Private API Key, then click Continue.

  • Once you re-enter and save your new credentials, your integration will show as Connected, and you will be able to click on 'Test.'

  • A successful connection will yield a positive test result.

Congratulations, your SlickText account is now successfully Re-Connected to AEvent!


How to remove your SlickText Integration from AEvent

If you want to remove your SlickText integration from AEvent:

  • You need to navigate to Integrations.

  • Locate your SlickText integration and click on the Trashcan icon.

  • You then will be prompted to confirm deletion.


⚠️ NOTE: ⚠️

Removing this integration will immediately affect its use with any timelines that it is active in.

If you are experiencing issues with this integration but do not desire to REMOVE it, we recommend reconnecting it instead.

This will allow its configuration to continue as set within your timelines.
