In this tutorial, you will learn how to link an interstitial page that captures your leads' phone numbers after they submit their name and email for event registration.

Why would you want to do this?

Using an interstitial page allows you to:

  • Increase Initial Registration Rates: By initially asking only for name and email, you reduce friction and boost registration conversions.

  • Capture Stronger 'Phone' Leads: Position the phone submission as a VIP or connected option, which can make leads more willing to provide their number.

  • Maintain Lead Quality: This method ensures you're still obtaining valuable phone numbers without discouraging initial sign-ups.

Steps to Set Up an Interstitial Page:

  1. Create Your Registration Page - Start by setting up your main registration page to capture the name and email of your leads. (If you have not already set up your registration page, refer to our Page Builder tutorials for help).

  2. Design the Interstitial Page - Create a separate page specifically designed for collecting phone numbers. Highlight the benefits of providing a phone number, such as receiving VIP updates or special access.

  3. Link the Interstitial Page to Your Timeline -

    1. Open your AEvent timeline, navigate to Registration -> Fields, and under phone, click the slider to select 'Interstitial'.

    2. Now select advanced -> Page URLs and click on the edit icon to set your Interstitial Page URL, and click on Update Settings

4. Setup Form Code and Header script - Browse to Code, then select Interstitial at the top. Here, you will find your Form Code (to collect phone numbers) and the header script required for your Interstitial Page.

The setup is exactly the same as when you set up your initial registration page. Do you need some Page Builder help? View our tutorials here.

6. Save your page builder changes once you've set up your form code and header script.

We recommend adding a "No Thanks" button below your phone submission form to link to your confirmation page. In addition, for best practice, we recommend adding the code snippet below to ensure proper registrant tracking.

?r={{!registrantID}}

Run a test to ensure that after submitting their registration details, registrants are properly redirected to the interstitial page.

By following these steps, you can effectively integrate an interstitial page into your event registration process, allowing you to gather important contact details while maintaining high registration conversion rates.
