AEvent doesn't restrict devices or prevent join-link sharing on its own. Whether you can restrict a registrant to one device depends on the delivery platform your campaign uses: Zoom and GoToWebinar each have a built-in setting for it, while AStream (AEvent's like-live streaming) has no such option.
Here is what each platform offers and how to set it up.
Prerequisites
For the Zoom or GoToWebinar steps below, your campaign delivers the event through that platform, and you can sign in to your own Zoom or GoToWebinar account.
The device setting lives in Zoom or GoToWebinar, not in AEvent. There is no device-limit toggle inside AEvent itself.
Zoom (webinar or meeting with registration)
Zoom's setting is called Allow attendees to join from multiple devices. Turning it off limits each registrant's link to one device at a time.
Step 1: Sign in to your Zoom account at zoom.us, open the webinar or meeting that AEvent scheduled, and scroll to the bottom to the Registration tab.
You should see: the Registration section with an Edit link on the right.
Step 2: Click Edit, and under Other options, uncheck Allow attendees to join from multiple devices, then save.
You should see: the box unchecked and saved. Each registrant can now use their link on only one device at a time, and has to leave one device before joining on another.
Important for AEvent users: AEvent creates your Zoom event with multiple devices allowed by default, and there is no AEvent toggle to change it, so you set this in Zoom directly. Because AEvent creates a fresh Zoom event for each scheduled occurrence, this change applies to that one occurrence. For evergreen or recurring campaigns, new occurrences are created with multiple devices allowed again, so repeat this for each event you want restricted.
GoToWebinar
GoToWebinar's setting is called Join Limit, with a Restricted Join option that limits each registrant to one device.
Step 1: In your GoTo account, open the webinar and go to its Registration settings, then find Join Limit.
You should see: a Join Limit setting with two choices, Default and Restricted Join.
Step 2: Select Restricted Join, then click out of the box to save.
You should see: Join Limit set to Restricted Join. Default allows up to three devices per link, and Restricted Join allows one.
Good to know: Restricted Join is available for Standard and Webcast events only, not Recorded events, and the change has to be made before the session starts. Changes made during a live session take effect at the next session.
AStream (like-live and evergreen)
AStream has no device or single-viewer restriction. A registrant's join link works for anyone who has it, and there is no setting to limit it to one device. If restricting devices is a requirement, deliver the event through Zoom or GoToWebinar instead and use the setting above.
Will this block the same person from using two devices?
Yes. With the setting on, a registrant has to leave one device before joining on another. Keep in mind this also affects legitimate cases, such as someone who registers on their phone and then joins on their laptop. That is the trade-off for preventing shared links, so turn it on only when screening access matters more than multi-device convenience.
