By capturing query variables from the address bar during the registration process, you can gather important information like tracking IDs, hop IDs, or affiliate IDs.

This tutorial will guide you through the steps of setting up a custom form field to capture query variables and push that information to your autoresponder. This feature enables you to personalize your communication and better understand your registrants.

By following this tutorial, you'll learn how to:

  1. Set up a custom form field to capture query variables.

  2. Associate the captured query variable with a registration field.

  3. Ensure the captured query variable is sent to your autoresponder.

Step-By-Step Tutorial:

Step 1: Accessing Settings

First, access the settings of your AEvent account. Once you're logged in, navigate to the registration page settings on the timeline you're building, locate the "Add Registration Field" option, and click on it.

Step 2: Specifying the Query Variable

In the field creation dialog, enter a name for the field.

  • For example, if you want to capture the "affid" query variable, enter "affid" as the Field Name. Then, select the "Query" option for the Form Type to indicate that the variable will be captured from the query string in the address bar.

  • Click "Add" to save the field.

Step 3: Creating a Single Field

Go to the Integration settings now, i.e., AWeber, ActiveCampaign, etc, and create a new single field. Give it a name, such as "affid" to match the query variable you want to capture.

Step 4: Linking the Query Variable

In the field settings for the single field you just created, choose the "Custom Field" option. Then, select the query variable you set up in Step 2, in this case, "affid". This ensures that the captured query variable will be associated with this field.

Step 5: Completing the Setup

Save the registration form settings. Now, when someone registers and the address bar contains the query string "affid=example", the value "example" will be captured and sent to your autoresponder along with the registration information.

In this tutorial, you learned how to capture query variables during the registration process in AEvent. By setting up a custom form field and associating it with the captured query variable, you can collect valuable information from the address bar and use it in your communications. Remember to save the form settings to ensure the query variable is properly captured and sent to your autoresponder.

Congratulations! You're now equipped to capture and utilize query variables for enhanced personalization and communication in AEvent.
